1966 Peugeot 404 Cabriolet
Designed and hand built by Pininfarina, the 404 proved to be a comfortable, handsome, and extremely robust automobile. Some owners report mileage tallies in the hundreds of thousands – that’s how well built these cars were. And while popular in their day, they simply aren’t too common today, especially in this country.
This 404 is just one of 7300 or so that left the factory with fuel injection. (ten to 12 are thought to currently exist in the states). It’s a good project since most of the work has been done for you. The Black Horse Garage has completed the bodywork and a complete respray – frame and chassis are straight, and panel alignment is perfect. We’ve completed a majority of the coachwork; new interior, carpets, and door panels. The leather seats will be recovered before the car is sold. Chrome is in good shape, the fuel injected engine runs smooth, all parts plus may extar,and other mechanical details are sorted.
With only 46,000 documented miles, and the amount of work and money (roughly $35,000) already invested, this is a great opportunity to complete a restoration yourself and own a unique, fun-to-drive car. All parts and spares are included – just add your enthusiasm and appreciation of a job well done.
